my binding procedure:
the meteor65 has a serial reciever so i start the bind sequence (3times fast plug in/out battery), the quad shows me hes in bind mode..
when i start the bind process on the elrs lua it says binding for 1or2 seconds, then stopps ..
what am i doing wrong?

Flash the receiver via Betaflight Passthrough, and set Binding phrase

turbid marsh
#

how do o do this?

tired rain
turbid marsh

Do you have Betaflight open when you are trying to flash?

#

Either you don't have the drivers installed or you have something else open using the COM port

turbid marsh
#

no,but i zry to shut everything down and try it again.. flashing thr tx module worked..i assume it needs the same drivers?

tired rain
#

No, TX module uses different drivers

turbid marsh
#

that could be the reason.. do you mind, showing me where to get them?

tired rain
#

Can you connect to Betaflight?

turbid marsh
#

yes i do

tired rain
#

Then you have the drivers installed

#

Make sure Betaflight is closed before trying to flash with ELRS though

turbid marsh
#

no i didnt started bf at all

tired rain
#

Do you have anything else open that could be using the COM ports? EdgeTX Configurator? Cura?

turbid marsh
#

no,nothing.. fredgly restarted, opened the configurator and tried to flash

tired rain
#

Unplug/replug USB and try again

turbid marsh
#

same result..i even tried another cable and usb cable and port..

tired rain
#

Can you post the new log?

#

In the last log you posted ELRS Configurator wasn't able to connect to anything

#

Which if Betaflight is working it should at least be able to talk to the FC

turbid marsh
tired rain
#

What serial port are you selecting in ELRS Configurator?

turbid marsh
#

nothing on myself

tired rain
#

You need to select the correct COM port. Check Betaflight to see what it's connecting to, then close Betaflight and select the same COM port in ELRS Configurator

What is the receiver LED doing?

Hello, another newbie here.. I've assembled the tbs tango elrs module and flashed to the latest firmware. I soldered a radiomaster RP3 Receiver on the quad. I am unable to bind the controller to the quad. Please let me know what I'm missing. I long press menu and select "expressLRS" and go down to bind and it attempts to do it for 2 seconds then stops. I've gone to TBS Agent Lite and the same thing happens.

Put both TX and RX into WiFi mode and show screenshots of the webui:

#

!webui

onyx spruce
#

ok. completed that

#

i picked the same binding phrase and the TX

#

as the TX*

tired rain
#

Can you post the screenshots?

onyx spruce
#

as soon as I hit save and reboot the window closed. I'll connect again to it and take a screen shot

onyx spruce
#

TX screenshots

tired rain
#

Looks good. Can you show a screenshot of the ELRS lua on your radio?

onyx spruce
#

lua script?

tired rain
#

Yes

onyx spruce
#

i downloaded it just now from the configurator and loaded it on the TX.

#

I'm not sure how to get the file from the tx as a screen shot. i assume its through the same as before?

tired rain
#

Copy the lua to the scripts/tools folder on your sd card, then run the lua and show a screenshot on your radio

onyx spruce
#

how do I show you a screen shot of my radio? I see 3 options when pressing the menu button. betaflight, tbs agent lite, and expresslrs

#

i selected expresslrs and can provide a picture of what I see on the screen.

tired rain
#

Yes, that is what I am asking for

onyx spruce
tired rain
onyx spruce
#

to what values?

tired rain
#

Tango can do 250Hz max, so lower packet rate to 250Hz.

#

TX Power set to 25mW for now

onyx spruce
#

done

tired rain
#

Can you show a new screenshot?

onyx spruce
#

the max power is 1000mW. I select the lowest 25mW and it keeps reseting back to 1000 max

#

same with packet rate.. .it keeps switching back to 500hz

#

sending you the screen shots

tired rain
#

The radio can't communicate with the module reliably for some reason

#

Reflash the module again via USB

onyx spruce
#

with the latest version?

#

direct to the module or via the tango?

tired rain
#

Direct to the module

#

Follow the flashing guide I just linked

onyx spruce
#

ok. completed

tired rain
#

Can you load the lua now and take a screenshot?

#

Try to change packet rate and TX power as well

onyx spruce
#

this time it worked. i've changed it to 250hz and tx power to 25mW

#

you still want pics?

tired rain
#

What does the top line show?

onyx spruce
#

HM ES24TZX Pro. 0/250

#

packet rate 250hz(-108dbs)

#

telem ratio 1:128

#

switch mode hybrid

#

model match off

#

TX power 25mW

tired rain
#

Can you put the TX and RX into WiFi mode again and confirm the UIDs are the same?

onyx spruce
#

ok. checking now

tired rain
#

Ok. Power everything down, power on TX, then power on RX. They should connect

onyx spruce
#

both powered back on. the RX has a solid red light

#

the TX module has solid blue

#

the tbs tango has the yellow light on the front

tired rain
#

Does the ELRS lua show a C in the top right corner?

onyx spruce
#

i still have the dip switches in flashing mode. ive changed the now

#

powering off and back on again

tired rain
#

That's fine, they only control whether the TX module or backpack are connected to the USB chip or to eachother

onyx spruce
#

yes there is a "C"

#

that wasn't there before

tired rain
#

You are connected

onyx spruce
#

whoohoo!

#

thank you

tired rain
#

Movement on the receiver tab in Betaflight?

onyx spruce
#

i'll go check that out now.

#

yes. its communicating. i just need to reconfigure the channels

#

roll is throttle... etc

tired rain
#

Yeah, just change the channel map in Betaflight

#

Likely either AETR1234 or TAER1234

onyx spruce
#

is it not able to go up in power? 1000mW or higher packet rate? are those just not necessary

tired rain
#

Can't go above 250Hz packet rate with that radio

onyx spruce
#

thanks. its configured correctly with TAER

tired rain
#

The Tango II also probably can't provide enough power to go up to 1000mW unless you've done the battery mod, but even then you'll just kill your battery

#

You should never need more than 100mW in most cases

#

You can set TX power to 100mW and enable dynamic power

onyx spruce
#

it was able to using just crossfire

tired rain
#

I don't think it can deliver enough power to an external module though. They make a special battery adapter thing for the Tango to power external modules

onyx spruce
#

for another quad. my biggest issues have been losing quads randomly on the returns. they make it out far enough.. then i turn back and gps rescue hasn't been working for me.

tired rain
#

And again, 1000mW is completely unnecessary

#

How do you have your antennas mounted?

onyx spruce
#

ok. i've heard that

#

directly on the happy module

tired rain
#

On the quad

onyx spruce
#

i should have been more specific. the drones i've lost were using dji 03 air unit, and Crossfire at 150hz lock.

#

this is the first using expresslrs

tired rain
#

Ideally you want both TX and RX antennas mounted vertically, with the antenna on the quad as high as possible so it is not shadowed by the battery or frame

onyx spruce
#

so hoping i don't lose another quad when i still have VTX

tired rain
#

Here are some good examples: #spam-zone message

onyx spruce
#

ok

#

i'll send a pic of the antennas on the quad

tired rain
#

Horizontal mounting is convenient, but bad for range as you can't avoid the antenna nulls

#

!antenna

onyx spruce
tired rain
#

Yeah, not ideal

onyx spruce
tired rain
#

For a quad that size get a BetaFPV SuperD or HappyModel EP1 Dual TCXO, a 2.4GHz Bardpole, and a standard dipole. Mount the bardpole vertically up high on the back like in that link I sent

onyx spruce
#

ok

Follow the procedure on the BetaFPV website to put the receiver into Bootloader mode and reflash: https://betafpv.com/collections/brushless-flight-controller/products/f4-1s-5a-aio-brushless-flight-controller-elrs-2-4g

BETAFPV Hobby

The F4 1S 5A AIO Brushless Flight Controller is back in stock with new and upgraded features. The new board integrates Serial ExpressLRS 2.4G receiver. Compared with the original built-in SPI ELRS 2.4G receiver, it could flash the newest ELRS official firmware like V3.0 easily. Also, we updated the FC with high-quality

#

Turn off telemetry in the Betaflight configurator.

Power cycle, while holding the Boot button to put the ELRS receiver into the bootloader.

Open the Betaflight configurator, exit DFU mode, and make sure the Betaflight is disconnected from the flight controller.
Choose target "BETAFPV AIO 2400 RX". Flash using the Passthrough option in ExpressLRS Configurator.

turbid marsh
#

is telemetry on by default? if yes, where can i change that?
other than this,same result..
what about flashing and binding over wlan,or isnt this possible? the quad is fresh, oit of the box and never flown

tired rain
#

On the receiver tab in Betaflight

#

Did you follow the procedure I outlined above?
