you're flashing the Zorro firmware into your flight controller?
no into my zorro sorry
its a elrs zorro btw and i have internal set as cross fire already
my suggestion: follow the flashing guide here:
https://www.expresslrs.org/3.0/quick-start/transmitters/rm-internal/
ok thanks ill check it out
ive got a question for "manual serial device selection" should i do com4 or com1
which COM port does the zorro use?
isn't there a photo on the guide where to check?
this photo to be exact
https://www.expresslrs.org/3.0/assets/images/DeviceMngr.png
and what does the guide say about yellow caution triangles?
oh ok ill do that sorry
what does Windows 10 users can use the VCP_V1.5.0_Setup_W7_x64_64bits executable. mean
after you've downloaded and unzipped the driver package, you'll have these files..
if you're on a windows 10/11 machine, you will need to run/execute the installer wizard "VCP_V1.5.0_Setup_W7_x64_64bits"
yes
extract to folder/extract all
ok so i run the VCP_V1.5.0_Setup_W7_x64_64bits now?
yes..
where do i put the destination
you can unzip it into a folder so the files are contained in one location
ok thanks now that im in thge install menu shere do i install the software
can you show a screenshot of what exactly your seeing please..
shouldn't really matter.. just click on Next
ok
now that ive installed should i retry the expresslrs build & flash or is there another step
first check if there's no longer any caution triangles in Device Manager and the zorro is detecting it's an STM Virtual COM Port device
different COM but seems to have no triangles
should i go ahead and run the build and flash now?
are you following the flashing guide?
post a photo of your Zorro System Menu -> Version
im sorry but how would i acces that im in menu tools and cant find it
Press Sys Key, then Press Page up/down key until you got to the last page, which is the version page
so you're not following the Flashing Guide..
first Paragraph:
Before you start, ensure you have the latest EdgeTX firmware version on your Zorro or TX16S MK2. You need at least EdgeTX 2.7.0 (f79978b) or EdgeTX 2.7.1 (a55aff0). The Zorro often comes with an earlier EdgeTX 2.7.0 version (2bdd4974) which results in unsuccessful flashing.
https://buddy.edgetx.org/#/flash?version=v2.8.0&target=zorro
click the Download .bin button at the bottom of the page
put the file into your SD card Firmware folder
reboot the zorro into bootloader mode (turn it off, press and hold the two horizontal trim switches inward then press the power button)
select Write Firmware, follow the screen prompts
should i backuo my current version
Always backup your SD Card content.
how can i do that
that's the first thing you should've done before even powering up the radio
connect zorro into usb, select USB storage mode, copy the files into a different folder in your computer.. once done, you have a backup
im getting this failure
then this file could be corrupted
ok should i checl the box and skip?
yes.. you can download sd card contents from edgeTX, particularly the sound files..
ok
what's important is you can get a copy of your models and radio settings
ok
what mode should i do that in?
Storage mode since you'll be accessing the SD card contents
were you done with your backup?
you should've just saved the edgeTX firmware into it after you're done copying the files.. then ejected it safely..
seems your sd card is no longer being detected on the radio..
take the sd card out, swap a better one in, containing the backup you just made
that doesnt seem good
take the sd card out, swap a better one in, which contains the files from the backup you just made
wait so the sd card is done?
I personally don't use factory sd card on any of my radios
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1D2Q21qEifYd3OBA34bSc-KRHfl9MmjcD/view?usp=share_link
this is a backup of the factory SD card contents I've made
i just unplugged and replugged in and seems to be working
should i go ahead with the firmware install
have you copied the edgeTX binary into the Firmware folder?
it may be working now, but how long will it last?
not yet just to clarify thats this correct
because you're talking about the firmware install already..
sorry im confused i havent installed that
i went to make a backup got that erroe unplugged and replugged and now were here
download the .bin from the EdgeTX buddy, save the file into the radio sd card firmware folder
ok
didn't you said you're done making backups?
yea
i just did the edge tx download how do i know when its done
to do the next step
is this what i was supposed to install?
"reboot the zorro into bootloader mode (turn it off, press and hold the two horizontal trim switches inward then press the power button)
select Write Firmware, follow the screen prompts"
should i do that with the usb connected or unconnected
disconnected.. since you can't do anything with the zorro still in storage mode
Which option?
did you put that 2.8.0 binary into your SD Card Firmware folder or just on your backup?
on my sd card i think
on the backup or sd card?
sd card
which folder? Firmware folder?
wanst in a folder
exactly
reboot the radio.. then try reflashing via ETX passthrough
(follow the flashing guide)
ok
it was a succes its telling me to update lua script and has a download script button where do i download that tp
i already downloaded lua scrpt prior to flashing if that makes a difference
oh no, my joysticks seem not to be working now
everything else is doing good but my joysticks arent
wait now there working sorry
thanks so so so so so much for your help
@long thicket how do i flash my drone?
which drone do you have?
tiny ape pro v2 im trying to do it myself riht now and struggling
can you connect it to betaflight configurator, then go into the CLI and execute the command version
post the output here
ok btw i just tried to do it through sifi but accedentally did the zorro firmware on my drone i just uninstalled it should i be fine
the web UI should warn you about target mismatch..
ok im in beta flight
Betaflight / STM32F411 (S411) 4.2.5 Nov 22 2020 / 18:38:45 (afdac08b3) MSP API: 1.43
config: YES
board: manufacturer_id: MTKS, board_name: MATEKF411
this receiver is a uart-based one.. (unless you've reflashed it already prior to this moment)
that means this receiver has wifi and passthrough flashing available to it
ok how do i flash it tgrough wifi?
here's a typical uart-based receiver Flashing Guide
https://www.expresslrs.org/3.0/quick-start/receivers/hmep2400/
should apply to this device as well..
thanks
however, make sure first what target it uses.. which the banner in the webUI can tell you
sorry im confused
the darwinFPV did not include any information what target the receiver uses on this device.. or which receiver it is actually..
so to know which one it is, let the receiver go into wifi (fast blinking LED), connect to the access point, then access the webUI in the 10.0.0.1 address
the banner on top of the webUI will tell you what target it uses, and what version is flashed into it
like so
This is all the paper work it came with
if on a 3.x firmware, the webUI will look like this
on your browser, load the web UI
I've shown the screenshots of the ExpressLRS Web UI
if you've followed part of the via WiFi updating, method one, you'll get to the point where you have to put in the http://10.0.0.1 URL into your browser.. this should load the webUI
what reciever do i put in the divice category
what did you see in the webUI of the receiver that you have?
redoing it right now sorry i had to unplug becuase it was ghetting rwally hot
its no longer popping up
my drone is flashing but the wifi is no longer popping up
is the receiver LED blinking fast?
yes sir
it did worked earlier right? were you using the same device to search for the access point?
yes sir
you didn't do anything earlier on it?
can you show a video clip of the current blinking pattern please
I had to unplug it because of how hot it was getting
too short..
sorry but its blinking verry fast
after the drone cools down ill retry
this is what i was supposed to download correxct
note: if you have the EP1
you first need to determine what target your receiver actually use..
then build that firmware for that target..
ok do i have to connect to wifi for that
yes.. because the target information and version information were both in the banner of the webui, as already stated
try updating it via betaflight passthrough..
it'll complain about target mismatch, and we'll know what target it has once it does so
sigh, darwinFPV
that seems confusing can i make a backup of my drone
try flashing it with the betafpv nano target
well, you're not updating your drone..
oh im not
but if you want to do a backup, you can connect to betaflight configurator, go into the CLI tab, execute the command diff all then click the Save to File button at the bottom of the page.. save the file where it's safe and you can easily go back to should you need this backup
do i need to do a backup though?
can i try through wifi 1 more time just to be safe?
with the nature of your questions, I think you should do a backup
😂 alr
im going to try wifi once more if that doesnt work ill do beta flight
its just so confusing how it was working then stopped
since you'll be attempting with the betafpv nano target, might want to use this guide instead
https://www.expresslrs.org/3.0/quick-start/receivers/betafpv2400/#flashing-via-passthrough
which didn't work? flashing via passthrough with the betafpv nano target?
the beta flight
oh srry
the wifi
i was trying one last time but failed so now gonna do beta '
what if the beta nano doesnt owkr
work
it will at least tell us what target it has..
so if it fails, do not close the window (or hit back button).. instead save the build log into a file
!log
how do i make a empty folder to save the backup to
right click on the current folder, select new -> folder
here's a typical backup file
did you executed the command
diff all
before you clicked the "Save to File" button in the configurator
should be fine
it isnt showing up per what the tutorial said
on wifi
oh im dumb mb
when i click on the website it said cant load page
weren't you able to connect to the access point?
why are you still trying wifi flashing method?
im not on the tutorial it says
weren't you doing the via Passthrough steps?
at the beginning of Method 2 via WiFi, it says this:
Method 2
NoteThis method will only work once the Home Network SSID and Password has been configured with the receiver.
"If the receiver gets powered up when you connect the FC to USB, you will need to Press and Hold the button on the receiver, connect USB and let go of the button once the LED stopped blinking and goes SOLID." the light never went solid
which button were you pressing though?
the top button
i think it the reciever
it failed
btw i had to plug in the battery then the cable so i fixed it
the wifi is working
is betaflight configurator open?
what do you mean connected?
what target does it have?
can you post a photo/screenshot of the webUI banner?
it said your connection was innterupted
then i lost the connection
ima retry i think i can get it
im connected to eathernet does that have anything to do with it?
if you have a wifi adapter while also connected to ethernet, it shouldn't be an issue..
ok
retrying pray for me
It’s something with my pc just did it on my phone
Is that what you needed :)
it uses the betafpv rx target..
possibly the nano
and it has version 2.2.0
on the ExpressLRS Configurator:
select
Device Category: BetaFPV 2.4GHz
Device: BETAFPV Nano 2400 RX
if updating via wifi, first update it to 2.5.1, and then redo the process with the 3.x firmware
if updating via Passthrough, you can flash direction to 3.x
which do you recemend
passthrough, so you'd do it only once
ok how do i change the firmware
I just linked the flashing/updating guide
ok
you do not need to press and hold the boot button on the receiver
how do i know whats the reciever
make sure betaflight configurator is closed, connect usb, then build and flash via expressLRS configurator
I just told you here:
#1063290378477899826 message
no like on the drone there is multiple buttons
and I mentioned you don't need to do that
oh ok sorry
so i connect via usb then click build and flash or do have to do anything eose
receiver powers up with just usb connected? then no need to connect LiPo
connect LiPo
connect USB
build and flash
wait for the process to finish, hopefully with the success message
is betaflight configurator open and connected to the flight controller?
no sir
did you manually select COM 3?
no sir
wait beta fpv was running in the backround but not connected
betafpv?
did you put the flight controller into dfu mode?
if you flashed both tx and rx with the same binding phrase, then they should auto-bind
(if they are in the same major firmware versions)
how do i tell
solid LED light on receiver
and/or a C in the top right corner of the ExpressLRS Lua Script
do you mean goggles?
which goggles do you have?
on betaflight configurator, go into vtx tab.. verify you already have the vtx table on it..
then take note what channel it was set to.. then set your goggles to that exact same channel
there is..
I would recommend you watch a bunch of youtube videos first on this matter
ok
as these are now beyond the scope of this channel
gotta help yourself first, before we can help you effectively..
there's the #general-quad-help only if you've grasped the basics..
ok thank you so much
