#How to color greyscale
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Put a base colored version in a layer below
And set the greyscale layer in screen mode and with curves you can adjust stuff
Works on any software as long as it supports blending modes and a curves/levels tool.
Tutorial starts at 1:00
This method also allows you to add precise lighting color to your highlights by simply changing the color of the Soft Light layer.

Just do it normally
A layer for background, a layer for character, a layer for props, a layer for lineart.
You can use more, that was just an example
But at least separate those
The whole point of greyscale because of values
Any color can work together as long as your values are right (in most cases)
Being brutally honest
Your value are not working right now
It lacks contrast
https://twitch.tv/pikat Since values and color is something I've never been very good at, I'll be going on a journey to improve and hopefully get better at them. Hopefully documenting my progress and mistakes will also be useful to someone.
