Hello everyone, I’m Teslarossa⁴ but you can just call me Tes. I’m a character designer and writer specializing in dystopian themes centered around technology and identity.

In 2023, I was hospitalized and took three years offline to heal. I had no time to make art during that time, but it allowed me to find myself and rediscover my love for art.

Starting now, I'm keeping a diary that records my return to form in this artistic journey. I'll focus on my art style and experiment with techniques I hadn't done before as I get back into the groove of things.

Things I want to do (but don't know how yet):

  • Silhouette painting technique (!)
I think this technique could help eliminate the line art process, which would allow me to try more artistic paintings instead of comic-style coloring.
In order to do this efficiently, I need better layer management. Oh, speaking of which…
  • Better layer management
By the time I finish a piece, I will have 60-100 layers, even for a sketch of a lone character. Not only does this make projects harder to organize, but it eats my computer's resources and slows the process down. This was a habit I developed from starting off in Paint.NET with mouse and keyboard. Comes from a lack of confidence in finalizing with less layers, I guess.
  • Transition fully from CSP to Krita
I found Krita to be much more powerful than Clip Studio Paint with the added benefits of free, frequent updates, and more extensive customization. Fight me. It's not just good for art, but for game development and graphics design, both of which are skills I'd like to sharpen. I've tried transitioning a few times, but there were some things I'm used to in CSP that are hard to translate into Krita, mainly the layering system and morphing objects. The goal is to make a complete switch to Krita by August.
  • More human character art
Okay, I technically do know how to do this. I’ve drawn humans before, but I’ve always stuck to Sonic fanart because that’s the community I’m most familiar with. If I were to continue developing as an artist, I need to branch out to new areas.
  • Most importantly, execution
With ADHD, the problem isn't the lack of ideation, but the lack of staying focused and free of distractions. It would take several hours from having the idea in my head to putting it to practice. “I can do this, but do I want to?” It's mostly a mental and emotional issue that I'm trying to work on myself.

The first two images I'll send are my most recent works from this week.
I think that’s about it. Hope you enjoy what you find and take care.

"Lightning" [4/22/2026]

While I made rough sketches, this was the first full illustration I made in over three years.

It features my main OC Tes, who went through a bunch of redesigns throughout the decades. Wasn't until last year that I've settled on what I think could be his final design.

The pose was inspired by Akira (the shot of Shotaro Kaneda sliding away in his motorcycle); I thought this worked really well for the kind of abilities Tes has.

He has no powers himself. Instead, wears electromagnetic shoes that were originally built by a corrupt megacorporation for crowd control; Tes stole a pair in a heist on the company and, after heavy modifications by a crude resistance, they became his personal weapon of choice - Lightning Feet. Able to use the magnets to turn heavy objects into projectiles, and cause EMPs that stun robots and cybernetic enemies.

I chose shoes specifically to reflect Tes' career - at day, he's an athlete; at night, he's secretly running with rebels to conduct heists on megacorporations for more selfish reasons than he realizes.

In the piece itself, I've experimented with special effects like the electricity and smoke trails coming from his shoes. Also took the time to add shading in addition to rimlighting to make the piece look less flat. I really wanted to drive home the poppy, comic-like art style that I'm going for, so I added a brightly-colored silhouette and half-toning to help with that.

That's about it.
