Help with Colored Pencils

So, im super proud of this sketch i made, and wanna use a set of 50 crayola colored pencils for this. now im not new to colored pencils, but i've never really tried before to blend and shade with them. As most sketches i don't color in as im afraid of messing them up, which just leads to them not getting colored. Is there some shading and blending tips? and what do i do about the pencil part of the sketch? line it with pen ink? erase it after going after lightly with colored pencil? any help with this?

i only really use prismacolor and i haven't userd coclored pencils in a bit so bear with me here...

so first off i'd try practicing using these tips on a blank page and not on the sketch just yet (or use a printed coloring page, that's what i like to do LOL)

what i do is i always lay down my base color lightly and then put down and layer up on my lights and shadows.

^ if u look at the leaf in this flower thing i drew, u can see where i chose a light version of my base color to color the lightest part and then i blended donwards using darker shades of green as i got closer to the shadows and then i blended it all together with the white colored pencil*

*note: i don't know how well the white colored pencil trick works with crayola, which is part of why i suggest practicing somewhere else first so u dont fuck up the cool sketch 😭
