Hi, I’d like to get your opinion, please. I’m not used to posting stuff this simple, but I made this and I really like it, so I want to post it on my Instagram. However, I’m hesitating about something. The image references the game There Is No Game and obviously deals with suicide, even though it’s very short and simple.
Here’s why I need your opinion for the post I want to make. I just want to post the image, but I’m hesitating about the Instagram post title. I was torn between either There Is a Rigged Game, just like on the image, or another title I really liked: There Is a Suicide in all caps. This also references the game’s title, but twists it in relation to my creation. Kind of like an event, as if the man currently playing this game in my image is going to—or thinking about—committing suicide. So, There Is a Suicide in all caps. I thought it was cool because it contrasted with the subtlety of the image and added something brutal in the title.
Now, I hesitate to use it because, on one hand, it’s cool—it has a strong, brutal contrast, and for people who didn’t get the post, they understand it much faster. But on the other hand, it removes a lot of subtlety for people who would have understood the suicide message, which I think is the majority. For them, it’s a bit annoying in terms of the effect I want the post to have on them. I feel it breaks some of the subtlety, even if the brutal contrast is cool. For people who would have understood it naturally, it breaks a bit of the subtlety.
That’s why I’m hesitating about the title. Would you advise me to use There Is a Suicide or not? Thanks.
