Make sure to check values constantly and experiments! For digital artists experiment with different brushes and go crazy with this, you got plenty of time

Can I draw textures into my artwork ? Dose that count ? Or dose it have to be blocks/ simple shapes

for clothing textures feel free to draw whole pieces of clothing!

as long as it is texture focused it should be fine

I feel like I can best do it if I can draw it into a invornment as can work on multiple textures like buildings clothings. Ect.

And how that is impacted my light and colors. Cus that is what I woud use it for

I would recommend u focusing on one texture at time for these studies since u can really pay attention to details and textures only. with full illustrations with environments and such it's easier to get lost and it's no longer texture study
maybe u can try some spheres with the texture u want to use for your illustration and then work on full piece after it!

Hmm that’s a good idea. I can do studies of indevidual items and than use those study’s as references for a illustration

I hope it's alright to post these here. I periodically get obsessed with certain things. Over the summer it was lichen and at the natural history museum it was the gems and minerals. I have just cropped some of my pictures and combine them here so I can inflict my hyper fixations on everyone else. Feel free to use any of them as reference if you want to.
Edit: the gem pictures are cropped down. The originals mostly have the names of the gem next to them. So if you would like a picture of any of the full gems and or their names then just let me know

Rn it looks like warts not scales see joe in the reference the scales are more uniform and there’s more scale than the dark areas surround it

I’d just draw the scales more uniform and close together

You can try to draw the crevices first as well

But that makes it look unnatural sometimes

What I did so far

Fuuuuu I was gonna do mutipel shoe textures for this one I was gonna do the second one on Christmas Eve but I got to distracted with my new art supplies I got for Christmas aaa here is the first one. Might do one more tomorrow we will see if I’m motivated cus I just got guash paints lol

If I do do a second one imma do a realy beaten up ruff texture

I am slowly learning. (Idk how to draw a dog and a ball is the simplest thing to practice this with )

I then tried drawing an ice cube and then realized Idk how to draw that.

I have a lot to learn about drawing.

Also I should have done that first.

It started with a new person asking how to learn in the Art Club and it led up to me learning a new valuable skill in drawing metal.

the highlight area is too big

rn the highlights look blurry

it should be very sharp

the highlights should be small and sharp

also the shadow doesnst make much sense which is light source problem again

you just blurred it too much tbh
