First of all i love your piece the character design is nice!
As for the piece itself i thunk it has to do with the eyes.
In the sketch It seems that the eye on the right is bigger than the left even though its further away and the left eye and brow seems a bit more slanted down compared to the right.
I think its because of the perspective/ angle the eye is at making the eyes look a different shape
