my real issue is refining literally anything, I'm just bad at refining detail

like going smaller and into detail

you're absolutely right. I never draw humans so idk why I even did that lol

I don't even like drawing humans, but the fabric made that pass by my mind entirely

It was a lot of fun !!! I’m studying cloths this week so it was perfect !!!

This skirt reminds me of my country’s national cloths !! Caled bunad !,

I think it looks really good! If i were to nitpick I’d say that you didn’t get the material right, like you can see that the dress on the referencje is made form material that weights more, is kinda fuzzy etc and yours looks satin-ish
But it is such a non issiue hajtaj

Yea I might have had too mutch contrast on the skirt ..

I can try and tone it down a bit

I also forgot the red stripe lol

Ok changed the colors a bit did some liquify and added a noice filter on the skirt …

Process, though it glosses over the florals, which were done with a hard-edged scratchy white line and then locked the alpha of the layer so I could throw color onto it. I wish I'd done a better job on some of the folds, I found the rendering confusing in spots because of the floral blocks/patches tbh 😅

For those three patterns, borders shouldn't match because there are fold, and with perspective we can't see all of it

I exaggerated it a bit in mine, but there's some reflective light bouncing off the dress onto the arm too. The torso part is more true neutral grey like you've got already

Aaaaa yess I need to add that

I made mine more warm tone cus I prefer off white in art as it's more interesting but yes I forgot the bounc light and the shadows on the arm cus of the skirt

Made some small changes ! Added some shadows and blue light to the arm and fixed the folds a bit

I finished mine, and I decided to do a small doodle right after just for fun. also, I did decided to skip the floral patterns, I'm sorry about that. it would have been an absolute mess, and with my ability to draw plants, it would have ruined the artwork I can't even lie 😭 but this was super fun! on top of that, I finally finished a prompt here for the first time.

side note, I drew this with the main goal of only using a hard brush for the shading. yes, there is usage of the air brush, but only for those big areas that have that golden glow that's visible.

I also never had the goal of trying to make the colors as accurate to the reference as I could. I enjoyed improvising for areas that I struggled with, and finding a new solution I could roll with.

The skirt looks very cute! The design looks very good imo just that there aren’t bright enough colors when you compare it to the reference.

U can add a noice filter on the skirt ! That helps
