What is your drawing process? Base colours, shadow light separation and then rendering?

But for some reason I’m having trouble on this one and I’m not completely sure why.

Sorry for late reply, but If you know the process and can usually finish an illustration than maybe you hust had a bad day, you can start a new illustration with the same topic and maybe find a composition you like even more or you can also come back to it later
Because weather you like your illustration or not is not something people can help you with, you haven't gone far into the rendering on the picture so maybe it would work if you just kept going. As an alextra tip For the lighting you can always try out different light sources by simply using the multiply layer and then decide on one when you've seen multiple possibilities
