what you see is likely a cape gooseberry plant, inside that leafy thing is a fruit, its a little bit sour but pretty tasty

it isn't a drawing but since yall were asking I figured I could tell you

They are common in Colombia where I live, I suppose you could find them on others places in latam too

But its bigger than the cape gooseberry

And more red/orange

Also not edible

Isn't that physalis ? I think it's the same plant as gooseberry

Its not a physalis

I asked my parents which are biologist

They are not the same

The physalis or cape gooseberry or the cerise de terre (if you speak french) is edible

Also called coqueret du perou in french

Idk why it has so many names

But the real scientist name is physalis

It was probably 2.5 to 3 hours, I put together some of the process here for others studying rendering (vs line drawing) General to specific! The first three shots probably took 15 minutes, all the details/rendering afterward take up most of the time

I tried a few different ways of handling the leaf vein patterns, most of it ended up using one of the default texture brushes in Krita ("texture spines"), ain't no way I'm drawing all of those for a few hour study ha

It looks so good so far!! You're getting that cell-like shape/texture down in the veins

very cool! just make sure the white light parts are not too smooth, keeping them rough just like on ref will help with the overall texture

amazing work!!!❤️ I don't think there are major mistakes I would just check the hard edges in some parts to give it sharper look, especially in this detail (pic1) your light is a bit too blended + a bit lighter value on pic2 for ligh part again
however I would consider it as complete work!!

nope, on some parts it's almost pure white and in transitions it varies from pinkish to yellow tones (upper part purple-blue) but I think u can get away with warmer tones for it

Hmm is this a senecio were it woud be ok to color pick the color to see what undertones the white has ?

feel free to do that anytime u are not 100% sure, better to fact check yourself and learn something new than working with limited colors!

nice work!! I would keep the black bg in solid color to keep the nice contrast between subject and bg but that could be preference, great complete work

I actually do trad and just started digital. And i got back to art 1 year ago . (Never was an artist just tried to doing some mediocre stuff taught back in middle school art class)

my phone photo quality is so bad that i never really take photos of my stuff just do my serious pieces digitally

This is a work of patience, wonder if i'll get it done before the deadline

I like how the form of the fruits (?) turned out and had the idea of not using any outlines to define form, only shading, but I think i'm gonna drop that idea

Not skillfull enough to shade in a natural way

Like the transition between darker and lighter parts is natural, idk how to explain it
