Hey, so I have this new character that I’m working on. She’s a candle-witch guardian and the setting that I have in mind for this character is medieval -gothic.

I first did a few thumbnails of what I want the character to look like I did 5 then I selected the 3rd one. Secondly I done pretty a bad rough 10 minute concept of the character that I have in mind. This is how I get my idea down.

Next I used these references as my inspiration and decided to 6 thumbnails as form of exploration. The reason why they are 6 is because I often hard for me to put some concepts like this without getting fatigued because I want to make it look acceptable and clear but not take much time to a point where I care too much for them. Each thumbnail was done 10-15 minutes.

If I were to critique myself, I would say that in the first part of this character designing process would be iterate more between designs and not use a brush that is way too thick. I also should have spent around a minute with each iteration to figure out better ideas. Perhaps I could have done 20 iterations. Also during the costume concept phase of this, I do think I rushed the 5th one and I think that is the worst out the bunch compared to how I treated the other ones. I feel as if the 6th one looks Asian rather than European.

Those are my thoughts, but what do you think?

I just want to know what I could have done better for the thumb-nailing process and what concept fits for this character?
