is color picking ever allowed/recommended when doing these type of studies? or should i eye the colors, i had a friend demonize color picking to me but then another one told me he was told by multiple pros that colo picking helps

I believe it can help as long as you are not treating it as straight up copying.
there are bunch of techniques how to study with it, one of them is trying to guess the colors and then ''fact checking'' yourself with the eyedropper tool. Some people don't use it at all but tbh it takes much more effort to guess the colors and it can lead to muddy colors and lots of confusion why the colors are not accurate, especially when u are trying it without any color knowledge.
Personally when I was starting with the studies I've used it often and it taught me that there are lots of unexpected shades that I definitely would not use if I was drawing it by my own (it improved my color choice knowledge). So rn I can guess the colors correctly while noticing interesting color changes in the reference and use it to my advantage!

the smaller pumpkin placement is a bit off and it is disturbing the depth in your work. I would love it closer to us so it can create 3d space!
also check your forms, the glass is a bit unbalanced

fixed some mistakes so here's repost 🫡

It's pretty difficult, might make several major mistakes.

Took around 45 minutes, used an HB pencil for the sketch, 2B to draw the objects and the shade on the ground and the bottle and an 1H for the shade on the pumpkins

Any critiques?

I'm not a pro so idk if this is completely right but there is suposes ro be a smal amount of orange on the white pumpkin cus of the orange pupkin infornt . And u shoud darken your shadows on the white pumpkin a bit. But I really like your drawing !!! Again not a pro

Also wip, the big pumpkin stem kind of messed up because I don't plan the proper colors for it, I did this 2 days ago, idk when I will continue.

And I also messed up the cast shadow on big pumpkin

Thanks!, I think it's going to turn into a decent drawing, but I did the big pumpkin first not the orange pumpkin first (which is the frontmost), I guess that's a lesson for me to do the frontmost object and plan the colors first so I don't make mistakes like this again.
