i have to do an assignment utilizing charcoal and kneaded eraser where I have to create a sphere with a light source on a paper. The professor advised us to use crosshatching and directional crosshatching, but I’m still stuck about how the shading should look and how crosshatching would be used around the background, the surface, and the casted shadow

ive watched the videos she gave us but im still so confused as the quality of the video isnt very good
and he does a timelapse of the actual shading while he used an outline of a sphere, which I can’t do according to teacher’s instructions
Would you mind sharing the video? Maybe we can help clarify
sure

you can skip the part where he uses real world objects to explain shadows
i understand that section
its mostly the long section where he timelapses himself shading a sphere outline, which doesnt help since my professor wants us to create the sphere through the illusion of shading and values
WAIT
nevermind
the assignment says to draw a circle
ok i think i understand
she wants us to draw the circle as a 2d shape and then use the techniques to make it look like a sphere
