Small tutorial for @crimson pelican but anyone can use it. Ignore the fact it's a small drawing, I am so tired from work and didn't have time to draw a fresh sketch so I just used an old one. Feel free to critique/add on to this with your own experiences
First things first, get you a sketch. Obviously lol
Lightly erase the Sketch. Make sure you're still able to see it tho. I recommend using a kneaded eraser but you can also use a regular one very lightly
Place undertones. The main colors you wanna stick to for skin tones is yellow, blue, and red. You can find undertone maps online to help you with placement π also lightly use a purple shade to sketch where your lineart/details will be
Base coloring. Pick out what you want your base color to be and use that color to lightly shade where you want what. It will look lighter than you want it to, but fret not, that will be fixed later.
Detailing part 1. Using a darker version of your base color, place your lineart, details, and shadows. They don't have to be perfect, they will be able to be fixed later
Base color (again). Go over your base color again until you reach your desired tone. If your base color is white you can skip this step.
Blending. Using a blending pencil or mid tone, blend the colors until it looks pretty much smooth. This is the part where you may lose most of your details, but don't worry, that's what part 8 is for.
Final detailing. Refine your detailing/lineart and shadows.
