Here's my result and tips :
as always

• focus on overall shape first, don't over complicate it
• once u have a good form then focus on shading and adding details/color - for both trad and digital artists, make light sketch first without colors, after that move to blocking out shapes
• block out the biggest shadows and light first
• use any medium u like

i havent done a study in i dont even know how long and i think it shows, lots of throwing color at the canvas until it looks the way i want it. could've probably done this a lot faster if i locked in (and yk sketched like i told myself i would )

im proud of my rendering but the two apples on the right are shifted to the right and the shadows fall downward left too much

Just want to remind that the red light, is not that of a lighter color (not much added white). If you look at the black/white image, could you see the difference between the red color and the shadow? Maybe slightly. But when comparing the light source from red or the one light from the right, I would say right light is lightest
You're not alone in this, don't let the red light fool you

I am a bit confused. So you’re saying the red light is in the shadow group so I should have made those areas even darker?

Yes, maybe not directly "shadow group" since it is technically a light, just to give red color. Maybe this image would help

looks great!! the biggest apple is a bit flat so I would check the shadows a bit more on that one but I think u can keep it that way, successful study

I guess the brushes. The newer work also seems more sharp and the proportions feel more accurate which also helps it.

yeah for the first one i was using the krita wet bristle default rough brush for the second one i did change it to a squareish shape so it seems that was a succes! and i was more carefull with the values which iffed me in the first one.

helloo looking good so far, make sure to check for hard and soft edges during your process + values

Im color picking and it's my first time color study like this usually i work in grayscale but ill try to keep the values good

u can check your values by making separate layer that turn your canvas into black and white (so u can see it better)
new layer + fill it with black + set layer settings to color

personally I keep it there during my process so I can check it from time to time

I try to only use a round brush but I don’t know if that is good for practice or not. Most of my drawings have like no texture

I mean a lot of it comes down to experimentation. Try different hard edged brushes and see what fits.

Yea I just don’t want to end up at a point where I rely too much on brushes to do the work for me but I’ll try experimenting more

helloo

1. clean up the edges of each apple, the sharp edges are very helpful to keep your objects more 3d and in some part u are losing that effect
2. I would suggest using more layers so u don't have to worry about overpainting your already made work. for example u can make separate layer for shadow on the ground and put it under the apple layer so u can get shadow that doesn't end around the edges
3. check the values in black and white, very helpful to keep your colors in nice contrast and see better where to put darker/ligter shades (the biggest apple have unbalanced values in shadows)
