i am a traditional artist thinking about getting into digital art. i've struggled with it in the past due to how different it feels to draw on, and how i somehow feel much more perfectionism when working on an ipad.
i have an ipad pencil already- would anyone who has these screen protectors recommend them? i've heard mixed opinions, such as that it decreases screen quality and wears down tips, but others swear by them. removable ones also may be an option depending on on what sizes they come in.

i would also appreciate any general advice for going from traditional to digital art :]

It kinda seems like it’s a personal preference. I first learned how to draw digitally using no screen protector and I learned just fine. I tried one of those paper screen protectors not too long ago and I instantly took it off cause I didn’t like the feeling of it

And yea they do wear down your Apple Pencil tips, but I’ve also known some people that really like them

I think it’s worth trying out

It’s definitely up to preference. I started with no texture aswell, my main issue with it was I didn’t like the drag of the screen on my hand.
I then tried the Paperlike screen protector. I liked it a lot compared to having nothing. The texture was great. My hand stopped feeling like it getting stuck when running it across the screen as often. I found it didn’t go completely.I used it for about 3 years, ish. I had no need to replace it or my pencil nib at all.
Then I got a new iPad. It was a different size so I couldn’t use the spare paperlike screen protectors. I didn’t really want to spend the same money twice. The paperlike ones are a little pricey. Got this cheap pack of 5 and I actually prefer them to the paperlike one. It’s up to opinion but the quality was lower, however I stoped running into the hand issue. It’s thinner but still got paper texture. Ive not ran into any issue with my nib wearing down but if it does happen, nibs are easily replaceable. My only issue with it, is that the texture eventually wears off in the high traffic areas. I’ve just replaced mine after a year because it started to get shiney in the middle. I’ve still got like 3 more in the pack for the future. It was like £5 for the pack.
I rather spend a fiver for a pack I replace regularly than the paperlike one for the sole reason that it solved a particular issue that I ran into.
The paperlike one works for most but is expensive. If you’re experimenting, I suggest going with something cheaper.
Hope this helps!
