A_A_smooched I will be here to help so feel free to ping me anytime A_A_thumb

Have fun!

Reference photo source : Artstation free reference pack

WHEN POSTING INTO GALLERIES PLEASE ALWAYS ATTACH ORIGINAL REFERENCE WITH IT

turn on ping for studies here id:customize

#

here's my result and process with tips will be below! A_A_cute

#

don't get overwhelmed, choose one color for each section and fill each simple shape. redline your reference or use this one

#

add color variation to each section
don't over complicate it, use max 3 colors to each section. as you can see I've kept some section in 1 color and that's ok
if you are unsure about colors, use eyedropper tool

recognize what is the darkest section of the reference

#

after we've established sections we can look for simple shapes in them
as stated before - don't look for details, check overall shape, fill it with simple color and move on
move on from this stage after each section has it's biggest details set, don't detail yet

#

after that we can start adding some more details, as you can see I am still not super focused to draw every blade of grass. for this stage it's good to find some structure and make the objects recognizable but not too detailed (plant in the left corner definitely have not as many leaves as we can see on ref, but it's still clear that it is plant)

#

after that I've pretty much just render/added details for 1 hour!

  • I have used charcoal brush, for this one I think anything with texture will be good
  • I have used black for some details and my result is pretty stylized I encourage u to have fun with it and also try some stylizations:)
  • don't get overwhelmed with details, start with big sections then find big shapes in them and after that add details
#

I encourage you to use your own references as well or maybe do multiple landscape studies A_A_3
references for these will be here #💖・inspiration message

I'm a little slow forgive me, so we just draw the reference in our own style? Are the instructions optional?

#

Can we just fuck around and find out and then post our results in the correct channels?

I just finished this two days ago, I’ve always been too scared to draw landscape and I never had the patience alongside my perfectionistic side.

I’ve finally gathered the inspiration to try and not fuss over details.

(My reference was real life)

Hmm how can I start this as traditional?

carmine nebula
#

Thank you! I’m gonna try to do more, I usually draw realism portraits but I’m trying to change my style to get into animation

Something that gave me inspiration to try to get over my perfectionism was seeing Stephen Travers Art. He draws beautiful landscapes with the “illusion of details” it looks amazingly detailed but when you zoom in, it’s just a bunch of squiggles.

Hello! This was my first time drawing a landscape I've been drawing digital art for about a month and I drew this in around 3 hours. I've also uploaded my speedpaint. I think I had a lot of trouble with the process because I'm still kind of new. Where should I post this to get critiques and tips?

short gorge
# undone storm ehh??

Maybe try finding the darkest shades in the reference? Then use it to draw details?

#

Idk I'm not a pro at this

#

Oh no this study is my weakness A_A_sobbing doubt I can make a scenery this complex

pearl heath
# undone storm ehh??

definitely trust the process! your simple shapes are done so now you can start noticing some more details!

For week 14, I will prepare a landscape study for beginners, feel free to mention what you have the most difficulty with in drawing landscapes so I can prepare specific solutions alongside with overall tips/info

finished because i've had enough of it lol

I guess simplifying shapes and perspective would be more fitting (I have difficulty in both of these)

void bone
#

tried my best to not get too much into the details, i wanted to really capture the grass on top of the cave because i just cant seem to define it properly with big shapes

#

i think i didnt push the values enough

#

Finally finished a compilation using my own refs
Accidentally focused more on architecture then on scenery but I hope it still counts
(References in the next message)

It's my first time painting landscapes with gouache and I struggled a lot.
If you have any feedback I would highly appreciate it

it looks great!!!A_A_O I love the colors u've used for background and that u were able to simplify it! the green tones could have been a bit less saturated especially for the middle ground area since u've used pretty much same values for plant in the foreground and rich green areas in middle ground (so I would choose a bit darker values from one of them to make a difference between them - I chose middle ground to be a bit darker than foreground but I think it can work other way around as well). overall nice work!!EM_pray
