For those who don’t know, the Backrooms is an idea/concept where there are “blueprints” surrounding our universe (aka Frontrooms). These blueprints come in many variations and are often non-Euclidean or unstable, split into many levels and sub-levels. The most common way of entering the Backrooms is by no-clipping (phasing through) reality. The most famous one is level 0 (the lobby), an infinite yet empty office space with yellow walls, wet brown floors, and fluorescent lights.

As a Backrooms fan, imma devote this diary to just me… in the Backrooms. This’ll be fun! Feel free to critique any drawings hehe :3

Here’s Donut in Pitfalls :)

Donut in level 1 right now. The level basically resembles an empty parking garage, slightly damaged with puddles of almond water. It still holds the same non-Euclidean properties as level 0 and is still a pain to get through.

When roaming level 1, there is a possibility of finding corridors. These concrete hallways, unlike other areas of the level, do not have much structurally anomalous effects and thus, are a good place to set up a temporary camp.

Also, scattered around level 1 are crates that hold many different kinds of materials, from food and water to bandages. While not usually found in corridors, these crates could be the key to survival.

Imma mark this one as a spoiler js in case someone is sensitive to glowing white faces lol

Level 1 has a flickering phenomenon, where at any random point in time the lights could shut off, temporarily eliminating one’s ability to see. These events are quite dangerous as anomalous entities are more likely to roam around, especially ones that are sensitive to light.

A good example of an entity is a Smiler. Smilers are, as the name suggests, brightly lit, smiling faces that are sensitive to and attracted to light. It isn’t known if they have a physical body, though it is rumored they have do. They are also very aggressive and prey on wanderers, especially those that are holding a light source (flashlight, lantern, etc). If one gets near a Smiler, they should turn off their light (if they have one) or throw the light source away to use as “bait”. They should also keep eye contact, walk slowly, and attempt to make little to no sound. If one can, they should try find a brightly lit room to repel any Smilers.

Unfortunately, Donut doesn’t know this information and, in the middle of a flickering event, shines his flashlight at a Smiler :(

All hail Jerry.

“Jerry” is an entity best described as a hyacinth macaw (basically a big blue parrot) with anomalous indoctrination (conversion to a belief) abilities. When one physically touches Jerry without the intention of taming it, they will begin to worship it like a god. This bird chases down wanderers it finds, attempting to “mind-control” them. If one manages to outrun Jerry, they would instantly no-clip through the ground into an entirely different level.

Donut catches the attention of Jerry and, as an amateur wanderer, almost touches the bird. When his paw was about a foot away, Jerry reacted, skittering ahead chasing Donut away.
