How can I improve the top piece on my drawing?
I think the dress looks fine…but the lighting on the top, the cape thingy (idk what to call it) doesn’t look right but I can’t get behind why 😠.

It's strange because I actually like the lighting of the head more than anywhere else, as though there is a light below. Where do you want the light source to come from?

In that case, the light seems to be coming from the right. I'd say lower right at that, polar to your desire.

Well, I'd suggest turning this error in your favor by having the light come from the lower right. From how it currently is, there'd be far less adjustment needed. I'd also recommend having the background act as a soft light source. Add parts of the light orange to almost outline her extremeties, ears, and eyes.
