Here’s my work with process!
At first I did a quick sketch, then I added flat colors with some variation (I used brush with color jitter) and then focused on details and final touches.

Check your proportions during the whole process and don’t get lost with too many details, overall form is more important!

For traditional artists – DON’T go with dark lines right away, have a light hand and draw light lines at first, add darker tones once u establish your sketch and base colors.
For shading – save the darkest tones for deepest shadows and try to build darker values during process, work slowly.

Alrighty folks I have returned with my lil pumpkin . I might work on it more later but, it is 5:30am and to my dismay people require sleep to survive so that’s it for now. The placement and lighting of the stem are wrong but I’m pretty okay with the rest of it.

Okey dokey I tried studying the values of major shapes in this one rather than the details and I think I messed up some places but it looks good to me. However I'm open to criticisms and if anyone wants they can refer it for values . Overall enjoyed it :]

My suggestion is to draw the bigger shapes first and then move on to rendering it

Also your view was a little off

Like it's good you can imagine the ref from different angles but getting the angle like the ref is a skill too

My advice is to add stem shape first like the bottom of stem then finish off the front bigger parts and then add the smaller one on the back

But other than that, i'd like you to look at where the self shadow on the pumpkins side falls, you've sketched in some of it, but it covers a bigger space on the bottom half of the pumpkin

That's just traditional art in general, but if you're scared of watercolor, I hope you never hear about acrylics.

you dont really undo watercolours, but you can lift up some of the colour if you wet it and dab it with a paper towel. you can also use gouache to cover up mistakes

hii I think u did a great job!!! for the future I would suggest checking your values with black and white - pic1! (make a new layer, fill it with black and set it into layer settings : color to make your checking layer) u did nice job but I think u could push the values even more to for 3d feel! I did a overpaint for better visualization
*for highlights it should overlap more, I didn't do it enough justice xd

Idk if u did it on purpose but i think itd look better without the dark lines in these areas , the shadows could be more red and i think the pumpkin could be more squished. The light colours and overall shading is rly nice tho👏

Hii it's perlin noise! I've filled the whole canvas with white color, then filter > render > perlin noise (in csp, I would have to check where it is in other programs). and then layer settings to overlay
