#Re-practicing eyes because I found out I suck at doing them on portraits

Lmk what I should change, my main focus is to figure out a new or improved method of drawing the eyelids,

secondary focus is applying that on models to be able to deliver a specific emotion, or indicate direction of pupil without needing to draw the iris.

I'm using Loomis method for the general head shape (quick sketches on the top)

Then I'm blocking in the overall shape of the eye socket, values and tone aside, just the shape of the plane in a 2d form,

Then indicating the tilt of the eyebrow line by the line in the middle to seperate top from bottom (also giving U the points of origin for the eyelids)

And finally adding the basic blocks, then the eyeline.

i was also just practicing eyes lol, but it really depends on what kinda style you want, if your going for a more realistic style, id pay attention to all the planes of the eye, including the little plane between the eyeball and bottom eyelid, in the picture you drew you left it completely black but it would actually catch light

#

something like this

#

i just quickly added it to your drawing

#

also one more thing idk if it was intentional but your values are super dark

#

your mid tones were around 80% value when it should be more around 50%

Tysm, I'll retry with more attention to the planes of the eyelids.

My original method was just draw the eyeball and wrap the eyelids around it.
