Mine and the reference. I cant draw curly hair cause i never actually tried so pls give me some tips or a guide. Also feel free to point any other mistakes (this is only the sketch so some things r undetailed).

block in the shape first. color it in with a flat color and then shade in areas that are dark darks. dont work about hihglights rn. just shade the hair like you would straght hair but in curls/circles.
once you got the base layer down with the shadows. get an eraser and erase some parts to add in the curl highlights (it would match the lightsource)
you can think of the curls like ribbons or an onion ring lol. onion rings has its own volume and areas on the outside and inside that light and shadows hit. the ribbon idea is just the onion ring idea but more complex (many rings connected together into a curl)
