Hello I’m trying to make a storyboard portfolio for an internship and I was wondering WHAT exactly people storyboard? Like can it be books? Does it be my own writing? Can it be any song from wherever or am I not allowed to use that for a portfolio? Thanks.

hi, I did storyboard for comics mostly, but I can imagine it could be short movies, key frames studies, color key studies. pretty much anything with some short story:D

Even if it’s copyrighted material?

If you don't make money on it and it's just for personal usage (portfolio understood), yes you can storyboard copyrighted material.

And if it's your first storyboard, I recommend you don't take your own story, cause in general when you do storyboarder you always graphically adapt story from other, not from you

#

But it's just advice, do what you like to do first. Take fun
