Idk about this but you can avoid this situation if :-
Try to make small compositions first before doing this kind of practice i.e. imagine the sketchpad border are the aspect ratio and make like 3-4 thumbnail off the scenery -
1 divide the Big Medium Small
2 then block in the big shapes (image the most elementary shapes like a tapered square, rectangles, triangle, ovals, etc
3 then place the object as per your focus point of the composition
