There's LOTS of ways to go about coloring hair and most of it is just style choice, I personally like to use a mix of hard and soft shadows.. to establish the basics of how to do this think about where your light source is and then shade the larger chunks of hair first.
Here's just an idea of what I'm talking about with the hard and soft shadows. This is one of my drawings I did recently.. I like to use a wet brush to make this easier and you can see more clearly in the green part of the hair how it blends yet still maintains some harder edges

For me it helps to work on the hair like it different squares and triangles. Trying to copy your way of shading by just coloring over the lineart.
