I am trying to improve at lighting, rendering, and colouring right now. My aim for this was to create something interesting and eye-catching.

Is there anything here that I should keep doing? What could I do differently to make it pop more?

So if you turn the saturation completely off everything kinda blends into each other. You need to have more contrast. Especially between the focal point and the surroundings.

Oh! Yeah, I definitely see that

And you’re right, more contrast would definitely help. Oddly enough, I usually do keep value in mind when painting (especially when trying to create depth)? I don’t know how it slipped my mind this time lol

Anyways, thank you for the feedback : )

I took a screen break then tried to adjust the values a little - it would probably look better if I redid the colours from scratch, but I decided against it

Well, the lighting...is a bit "blown out", or what the old photography people used to call "overexposed", especially around the helmet. Also the detail of the background isnt keeping up with the details on the figure.

Alrighty! I was trying to show the reflection of the sun on it, but I can see how I went a bit overboard. I’ll keep in mind to be more cautious about exposure next time : ) thank you

I would add more variety in the shading and make the character lighter than the background. That’s me, I’m not quite sure how you would like to go about it.
