I initialized a hello world javascript worker. can't deploy anything after init

I updated to node v20 and still have the error

I have ubuntu 24.04. I tried uninstalling wrangler globally and reinstalling, still have the error.

I've narrowed it down to being something with this line in index.js import { env } from 'wrangler';
