Refine is slot based, not item based

Okay, here's the deal: You can refine your gear right now, don"t worry about it. The next one you put on will be at the same level of refinement.

Now for reforge: I recommend using this stones for your gold tier armor, since reforged stone level does not transfer to the next equipped piece of armor like refinement does.

New info I learned: Dismantling gear which you spent reforge stones on, can be obtained back, but not the other resources that were spent in refinement.

This is simply wrong. You get all of them back

It looks to me that there's contention on the finer details of refining and reforging. So let me spell it out...

@faint quest Don't wait for legendary gear. Refining affects the equip slot. Say you refine to level 5 with your epic gear in the equip slot today, when you get your Legendary gear and equip it, that will immediately have level 5 refinement at no extra cost. You are fine to submit all your refinement materials.

Also, regarding reforging - spend all of that too because there's a reforge count on your weapon and gear. That reforge count is then used by the game's Dismantle system to figure out how many reforge stones to give back to you. You reforged 8 times? You get 16 back. You get back what you put in. No losses.

Saying you "don't think" it does means you haven't tried it.

I have a Shattering Sword (Heavy Guardian weapon) that I reforged 8 times, a couple times past perfection. When I try to dismantle it, the results show 32 reforge stones. Since weapons take 4 per reforge, that adds up.
