Hey guys, I'm currently building a webapp for planning out and sharing links of talent trees for your class. It's still in a very early state but since I've finished the core logic for the functionality, the rest will come fairly quickly.

I'm opening up this thread for suggestions and opinions on what other features the community might want so that I can start thinking about how best to implement them while the project is still in an early stage.

Current planned feature list:

  • (Core) View and build talent tree for both specializations of all classes
  • Calculate and display how many overall stats are being given from minor nodes selected (e.g. ATK +5, STR +10, STAM + 30, etc)
  • Calculate how many Talent Points and Arcane Seals are needed for currently selected nodes
  • Display descriptions from all selected major nodes in one location to alleviate needing to click on each one individually to read
  • Ability to share links to builds

Features NOT currently planned:

  • Account creation or any kind of authorization. I want this to be a lightweight, straightforward tool and don't want to add unnecessary roadblocks that could inflate the time it takes to begin using it
    • This also unfortunately means that there will be no "save" function for builds. If you want to save builds, you save the link to the build in your own notes
  • Displaying information about in-game terminology not present within the talent description itself
    • I'm talking about things like "Frost Crystal", "Thunder Sigil", "Wind Fury", etc. There are a lot of terms used in game that require you to click into them to view what they actually do. I don't have current plans to include all descriptions of all those extra terms. However, I DO eventually want to include a glossary for all of them at some point, just not in the first pass.

I have been asked for this by a few people but the issue is that I do not know the math that the developers use behind the scenes for the stat calculations on gear. I guess I could just use max values so people can see what is potentially possible to achieve, but if people want to theorycraft if swapping out Helmet X with Helmet Y will increase or decrease their ability score, unfortunately there's no way for me to determine that since I don't know the algorithm they use.

Update on progress of the planner
Finished all planned features in the list above. Additionally, added a feature where hovering your mouse over a talent in the side panel will point out where that talent is on the tree on the left.

Next Steps
With all logic working correctly now, I just need to compile all talent data from all classes and their specs. After that is done I will probably deploy the site at that current state so that everyone can use it quickly while I work on design polish.

Beyond all of that, I can begin looking into adding newer features (such as the gear/imagine/modules/etc. builder).

Yea it was just the placeholder since the spec I was working on was a DPS 😆 I'm open to all theming suggestions if you have any

well, really simple ones, background for classes, so you can keep red/green/blue & for the button, a color that's doesn't have those 3

and you can keep the orange/green & other colors that are used already on BPSR on talents to show minus/bonus/everthing else

A search function would be nice. If you search for "Life bloom" for example, it would highlight all nodes that interact with that ability or passive.

============ Updates ============

  • All classes have been added
  • Added in URL compression to shorten shareable links
  • Added feature where you can right-click nodes to mark them as a "priority" in your build to let users know a node is key to your guide should they want to branch off from it
  • Beginning to migrate icons over to using actual in-game icons instead of placeholders, currently only Frost Mage is completed.
  • A bunch of bug fixes

============ Next Steps ============
After migrating all icons over to in-game icons, I will begin redesign of the site to something more palatable (the red is killing me...)

If there are any more ideas anyone has please let me know.

Also, I did not have much time to extensively test if all trees are accurate to their in-game counterparts, please let me know if you find issues with any node connections or talent descriptions.

@cunning sparrow there seems to be an issue with the links it makes. I created a 70 talent point shield knight build and the link it gives me wipes 12 points off and links to a 58 point build

np, its new and there are bound to be bugs, I've done a bit of coding and website design, so I know the headaches that can come with it. It's a good tool and I'm looking forward to see what else you do with it.

Site is now mobile friendly but anyone using it please tell me if you have some issues, I was only able to test it on my own device and some simulated resolutions.

Also made some minor design changes mostly to color themes and UI elements for now before attempting large sweeping design alterations.

just a lil adjustment maybe to the scaling on the side so you can actually tell there's a sidebar regardless of window size. I didn't notice the skills section until I happened to full screen my window since it was perfectly cut off 🤣

I think the only maybe useful thing I can think of adding is if there is a way to input character stats and see the reflected number changes for dmg outputs, healing, blocks, lucky hits etc. would help maybe in comparing some talents idk

ah you mean like the extra definitions for the stuff you can't find in game like when you click into the words? i did specifically mention i wouldn't be doing that at first but that i want to in the future, it just wasn't in my initial scope because i was trying to get something workable out faster

now that CBT is over, i'll have to use translated descriptions from CN, but i think that will be something i do next when i'm not burnt out anymore

I have a few suggestions, but I personally wouldn’t prioritize them. Instead they’d be nice to add after completion of the talent tree stuff.

  1. Add options to select gear, equipment, gems, modules, etc. to show what stats your optimal build would have and be able to make better planned gearing decisions.

  2. Add world boss spawn tracking, and a feature to link the timer to discord for heads up notifications (to be toggled on or off).

That’s all I got for now.

@cunning sparrow I don't know if this is a known bug, but I found out you can make invalid builds, at least in wolf spec.
After you get past the 50 point treshold, you can remove some of the pre-50 talents.

I would love to add i18n but my main problem is not having any actual text from other supported languages so the only avenue I would have available to me at the moment to achieve that would be using AI to translate. If that is something the community supports then I can start thinking about adding that in. Otherwise I would need help with localizing text from willing native speakers.

Addressing in order:

  1. This was probably going to be the next large feature I was going to add, but I'm thinking how best to implement it considering I don't know the math that is used by the developers to calculate values in game. It would probably be used more for making goals for yourself to achieve rather than checking if gear A or gear B affects your stats more positively.

  2. I don't 100% know how boss spawns work but from my experience I believe they are on a set timer from the moment they die wth each Line being independent of one another. This could be pretty hard to track since on CN right now there are upwards of 100+ Lines and there is no direct API to request for those timers or track moments of death. If the spawns were more standardized (like say at every hour on the hour or every half hour) then I could give an estimation but at that point you could just check your clock and know at a glance.

About world bosses they all got a fixed spawn rate every hour. Some spawn on x:00 others on x:30.
If they dont get killed they just stay alive else they respawn.

Also rather than new features I would also rather like the info off the underlined infos on talents more usefull.
And maybe the classes skill info to read the basic skill what it does. Sometimes I see a talent which improves a skill but dont know the skill anymore. That way I can plan a build completly without going ingame. That would be huge Heart

Yea the extra underlined info is what's immediately next on the list since it's adding on to what is already there, newer larger features are separate from that.

About the boss spawn rates, I did remember reading something about how they spawn at every hour or every half hour, but what happens if one dies within seconds of a spawn time? So say for example Muku dies at 1:59:59, would another spawn immediately one second after? Is there a grace period for when a boss should spawn after it dies?
