#iPod Classic 7th generation showing iTunes restore screen after recharging

Hello all, I recently charged up my iPod Classic after not using it for a while and noticed it stayed stuck on the Apple screen for a long time. I rebooted it by holding the center button and MENU, and put it into deep sleep to let it charge. After letting it charge for about an hour on my FW charger, I pressed the center button and was surprised to see it show the iTunes restore screen. Is this normal to see on iPods that haven't been charged in a while? I have an iFlash Solo and a 128GB Samsung microSD Card in an adapter. Thanks.

No, flash memory does not (or at least should not) loose the contents without power for at least 10-20 years (depending on particular type of flash chips). Probably the data has been corrupted in other way - and there are many ways it could happen.
