My dad let me have his unused iPod like 3 months ago and it was working fine, but recently it just started acting weird.

I tried to add new songs, and it wouldn’t let me so, I messed with it until I had no other choice than to factory reset. When I synced my iTunes it worked fine and I moved on, but the second time I tried to add more songs, it did the same thing, and it also wasn’t ejecting from my pc, so I had to disconnect the charger. When it came back my music was missing and my name disappeared (seen in images).

At first I was thinking that maybe my pc was just slow (it is) but when I added music to my iPhone, it worked fine, so I started thinking, maybe the iPod battery is dying. It was barely used before I got my hands on it but it’s still old (2008). If it is a battery problem where should I look for replacements, and a tutorial to do so properly?

Start with getting into diag mode and checking HDD status.
