#iPod 5th Gen not turning on anymore and making beeping noise?

I picked an iPod 5th Gen on Ebay a few days ago and it just came in the mail today. Everything was working fine with it and I had no problems but then it suddenly just stops working after about 2-3 hours. At first I thought the battery had died but when I plugged it in, it doesn't turn on at all or sometimes the Apple logo appears briefly, although very faint, and the hard drive spins, but then it turns off again. There also is this very faint beeping noise coming from the device when it is plugged into the charger. I recorded the beeping noise and is in the .m4a file attached to this post.

Could it be possible that the hard drive had died or is it something else? I did put a few albums on the iPod and they were all playing fine but I'm honestly not sure as to what happened. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Quick update: i left it plugged for a few hours earlier and the screen displayed the very low battery screen for a good hour or more. Then after a while it turned back on into the OS and seems to work fine.

My guess is that the battery must be on its way out so I think I'm gonna get a replacement battery on iFixit and see what happens.
