i'm very new to this, but i'm trying to put music onto my ipod and it sounds like there's an echo or i can't hear the singing very well.
i've tried converting my audio to mp3, m4a, flac, wav, and it's all distorted.
btw, i downloaded the music from youtube if that makes a difference.

It is the same for ALL or just some files?
Did you try with different headset and made sure it has been plugged all the way in - is it for sure in stereo?
can you make a recording?

I bought a song on itunes to see if it was my mp3s and it still sounded distorted. also tried listening to both songs on another ipod and it still sounded that way. i'm going to test both songs with a different pair of headphones to see if it's the ipod or my headphones

OK so it was my headphone jack adapter!!! nothing wrong with my mp3s or ipod!
