So basically I bought a 4th gen classic off ebay with a dead drive replaced it and there was data on the new drive so I restored it but then it came up with a screen that had a charger so I plugged it in but it won't charge it'll turn on and I can use it whilst on the charger but it won't charge even when left on it overnight as when I take it off the charger it'll stay on for like 5 minutes give or take with an empty battery icon in the top right hand corner

What charger you have?

Ipods often prefer to use the original charger and/or firewall one if possible.

But the Apple "factory" one, or just random one?

not the one the came with it an apple cord and 5W brick yes
