#New Album Art not showing up (sometimes) on iPod Classic (and Video)

Hey y'all, I been tryna get back into my iPods, but one of the biggest hurdles i feel is that my iPods just don't like accepting/displaying the album art for the album. I've had this issue on both my classic and my video.

I convert all my files (mostly flacs) to m4a (Apple Lossless), which maybe the issue, although I've had albums that still import it. I don't know the reasons for what art it accepts and not. Right now, I could think it maybe that the pic is to large to display, or its not set as the front cover.

Has anyone else had this problem? I've been dealing with it for years but have no clue what to do about it

Can you look into what version of id3 metadata your conversion output has? Some later versions are too new for iPods. Iirc id3v23 works on pods but v24 is too new

If you're finding the album art manually, you may be getting pics that are too high of a resolution so it chokes up the iPod. iirc 320x320 is what you want but 500x500 is like the max for a classic. Don't quote me tho

nah I get it, no worries with the pings. Idk other than the resolution tho, maybe that metadata thing that was mentioned above

I think imma try restoring it and only putting 500x500 art see what happens.

Bc when I go to Cover Flow (at least after syncing) it does take a while to load the art that is there

this hasn't worked either

welp... I restored put some songs on. Now when i try to play a song it doesn't do anything. I press pause a couple times, it restarts. what should i do now

Also got a 5th gen that didn’t display art, but rn I’m mostly focused on the 6.5g

Interesting. Its not always the same group of songs is it? Might just be goofed files which is why now they won't even play? Or possibly a drive going bad but I wouldn't think so

i can try to use xld for conversion

ok, i formatted the iPod to fat32, restored it, and i put a song on there.

Good news is, the iPod plays tracks again, at least ones that are encoded through XLD Apple Lossless.

Bad news, still doesn't show the album art. The file i tried was a 300x300 so it could be shrunk down.

#

mk, i tried syncing with the local files on my apple music, it seems to show the album art?

bruu, tried it with a older version of iTunes on Windows with the files in my library, it seems to show the art
