Picked up a broken 7.5 Gen that had a bit of water damage, repaired the battery connection and reflowed / cleaned/ replaced a few components around the 4066T charge chip,

Now sometimes (rarely) it will turn on, but most times says connect to charger. Sometimes I can get I to diagnostic menu

I know 100% battery is charged fully (charged separately) but in diag menu the A2D is saying battery is around 500- 700 and fluctuates a lot. (For reference, 700 is about 0.7v so there's no way it should even turn on!) but as it reporting incorrectly, won't power on fully.

Anyone know anything about how the A2D is wired ? Is it controlled in the LTC4066 chip? Or a separate chip?

(Half charged 7 for reference, stable 3800+ reading. Good battery should read 3300 - 4200 I believe)

I am not sure that any schematics circulates in wild for ipods. But your issue might be because of the connector, down to resistance of the damaged links on the and problems with shunt resistor, if there is one on the board.

at the end you might need the chip and then you will have only one option - a donor board...
