Hi guys, found a 4th gen ipod thats been sitting at the bottom of a drawer for many years. Seeing if I can get it going again but its stuck in a boot loop, it turns on with the apple logo, displays a sad ipod for a few seconds then reboots automatically and this just repeats over and over with the ipod making a quiet clicking noise internally.

either a very low battery not proving enough juice to the HDD, or a dead drive. I'm willing to bet it's the drive, so flashmodding it will 99% fix this issue.
Yeah I have a CF on order for today, will see if it sorts it
The battery does hold some charge... not very much
But when I unplug it it does run for like 5-10 seconds
After fitting a cf card
Oooooh yes she's back from the dead :D
I do wonder if it could be battery not powering the hdd enough, ive had hard drives click and not spin up be caused by bad voltages
It does hold charge when I unplug it just not a lot
That went almost too smoothly tho lmao, fitted a proper cf rather than cf to sd and it just immediately picked up in itunes and restored first time
