Weird Quirk or Problem- ipod randomly skips in the middle of the song (ipod 7th gen 120gb) | iPod | Page 1

I recently got a new ("new") ipod after my last one got stolen out of my car. I've mostly had no complaints but it will seemingly randomly stop in the middle of the song I'm listening to and skip to the next track. I did a little bit of looking and tried restoring the ipod to factory settings and trying again. That seemed to help a little, but it will still skip mid song. It lulls me into a false sense of security- it will go long periods before doing it again. If this is just a funny quirk I can get used to it- but if this is it trying to tell me something is wrong and there's something I can do to fix it on my end I'd like to.
I had debated making a post about it for a couple days, until it decided to up the ante- instead of skipping to the next track the song stopped and the ipod rebooted itself. I hope this is something I can fix and that I don't have to go through the hassle of sending the ipod back. Any advice anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
