Hello I attempted a flash mod on my ipod mini 2nd gen and it gave me a sad ipod error, so I gave up and put old hdd back in. but it gave me a sad ipod error when it booted just fine before and was not giving a sign of dying. did I damage my hdd ribbon cable?

You can thoroughly check the cable far any obvious tears, broken traces, or lifted pads where the pins are. If not you can try reformating the sd card seperately in a computer outside of the iPod. Also what were you using a compact flash card or an adpater to go to an SD card?

that happened to me, if that ribbon cable is original it’s probably super fragile
fortunately it’s just a case of getting a new ribbon cable

I was using blue generic 64gb cf card from aliexpress. ordered a more proper sandisk extreme 32gb one. which I am going to try first. also bought a replacement ribbon cable just to be sure. will report back when it arrives.
