Has anyone ever had their iPod's clickwheel stop making the "click" sound when scrolling with it? When using it with stock firmware and with Rockbox, scrolling no longer makes the "click" sound. iPod Video 5.5 for reference

In both rockbox and original firmware there is a setting for that.
BUT if it turned on in both and still does not work - it means the clicker speaker or the flex cable connecting it to the MB (with headset connector and lock switch) is somehow broken.

the lock switch and the headphone jack work fine, so them i'm guessing the speaker itself crapped out?

yeah, i checked in both Rockbox and stock firmware

i toggled it to off as well, just to check. when on or off, it doesn't work either way

normally it's ear-piercing through my IEMs though. but that's bizarre

Through my IEMs, on Rockbox it sounds normal, but really soft. on stock firmware, it sounds really anemic and soft

I might attempt a restore in the future, but for now I'm not gonna stress about it
