if i turn on sound check in itunes, does that normalize the audio on the ipod? ik if i do sound check on the ipod, it doesnt do much but does it work after i turn that on in itunes?

Also does it work after ive already synced music? like i synced w/o sound check and then i go back and turn on sound check in itunes. would i have to resync everything or would it update?
