#iPod Shuffle not making sound.

Seems like the issue lies within the battery being aged to the point where it can't hold a charge
given that you recently found it after a while and assuming you didn't do anything to it repair wise
Yeah, it's just weird.
It can show the red light after it being charged for a while and will keep showing a red light
And in iTunes it shows fully charged.
i’m just confused cause it wouldn’t do this if it was a batt that couldn’t hold a charge.
And iTunes shows this.
I’m no expert but iTunes would show it fully charged if the battery was holding all the charge it could right?
I just think it’s weird that it’ll turn on but not make any sound. Doesn’t make sense. Maybe i just don’t know how to start a song or something? I don’t know. Really hoping it’ll just magically work cause i wanna use it for a trip i’m going on.
assuming you have the time for it, apple will replace a 4th gen shuffle battery for 40$
there are also 3rd part options out there
although its something i haven't looked into that much actually
i heard the shuffles are on the same tier of difficulty as many of the ipod nanos to service
40$ in Denmark is abt. 280kr. I’m not paying that much for a battery replacement. Might as well get a new one and use the old as prop or sum ig. Thanks for trying to help though.
update 3: it now shows a green light after being charged and turns on every time but still no sound. Im gonna try to clean the headphone jack cause it looks dirty
@gentle isle did you ever manage to resolve this? im having the exact same issue
Yeah
Attempted to clean the headphone jack but it didn’t seem to help
oh
well
how did you clean it?
i used a q tip with isopropyl alcohol
it works perfectly now
i’d say give it a fat charge for like 2 hours and see if it works
are you using headphones with a microphone?
no just regular headphones. i tried some isopropyl but I’ll be a bit more thorough to give it a shot
yeah it does, and it stays on when unplugged
have you tried plugging headphones in, then choosing shuffle? maybe clicking play?
yeah
hmmm
