Hello, I have this rather strange issue with my 2nd classic. I know it’s normal for iPod classics to get warm while charging, but this one gets “burns your hand” hot. In fact, it gets so hot the display slowly turns black as it charges, and the display when it isn’t charging appears very washed out and flickers, as if it isn’t getting much power. I don’t know what could be wrong with it, as it has both a brand new battery and hard drive.

could be overheating mobo components
dead chip maybe
take it apart, remove all the components, and see what happens when you plug in just the motherboard
Yeah a component is definitely not functioning properly
Unless you know how to diagnose it and solder a new component that probably isn't available anymore you are probably out of luck.
You most likely need a new motherboard
So yeah unless you have like over 100 dollars in your pocket the ipod is toast
@faint spoke was there any further help you needed or am I okay to close this?
