So I recently bought a 4th gen HP-era mono from Ebay, and I noticed that it had a headphone short, so I went on EOE, and I bought a new case and some jimmy tools, but after I installed the new back case with a new cable, it still has a short in it, what should I do?

can you elaborate on what exactly the ipod is doing that it shouldn't be

like if the headphone rotates in the jack, one of the channels cut out.

as far as I'm aware that's actually fairly normal behavior and isn't a short so much as the contacts in the jack not making good contact with the end of the headphone cable. you can try to fix it by cleaning the inside of the headphone jack with a toothpick or something. don't use too much force, and probably don't use any liquids in doing it but if you do, use isopropyl

Ok, and the HDD seems iffy, but I'll just get an Iflash board for that.
