#IImari Desert - War Cache "Already looted chest" when I did not in fact loot anything...

Hello. I haven't done too many war caches thus far, perhaps in total 6-8. My safecracking skill is a 4, so perhaps even less. Anyway, the last two war cache safes that I successfully opened both said something like "I've already looted this chest." Something like that. One map, has a number of levers in it, and I for sure never completed that one before as it took me a very long time to understand what I needed to do.

I've also read others on my server chat having the same issue. Just wanted to post here and see what's going on.

I know for sure I haven't completed all of these war caches, is the intent for players to only do each map one time? Or is the intent for players to continue to do them?

War Caches are a bit of a 'mystery' apparently. I've not run into anyone who can give conclusive information on them. I've never seen some come back around again - ever, so it's like they are a one time deal. But apparently some people say they aren't? It feels like not enough people do them to really know the system.

I was doing it for gear but also leveling up safe cracking. I dunno... I don't think the intent is to be one and done with each of the 20 (?) maps.

As far I understand, you can only open the chest on a map if either:

  • You haven't visited that map before (and haven't opened the chest)
    or
  • You previously opened the chest AND completed the war cache quest on that map.

So, if you enter a map, open the chest, and then leave without completing the quest for any reason, you won't be able to open the chest again when you return to the same map with a new quest.

In other words, you can keep opening chests over and over again only if you complete the quest on each map you visit.

Okay, so I never even thought about starting the quest and not finishing it. So I have never done that. So if I opened a chest, and completed the quest, I should be able to continue to open future chests of that same map type, is that correct? Because there is 100% a disconnect. My safecracking skill is like 4 or 5. So clearly I haven't done a lot of these. Thank you for your insight too.
