Naturalist Sedative Ammo

I just bought the naturalist role and purchased sadative ammo. I equipped my varmint rifle with the sedative ammo in it, and I tried to headshot a pronghorn American buck, but it wouldn't sleep (I tracked it after I shot and it was still alive; I know it will make them sleep for 30 seconds to 1 minute), and I didn't see a glowing red whenever I activated my deadeye.

You need to shoot animals multiple times to sedate them. the bigger the animal the more shots, especially if they start running and it's hard to hit weakspots.
