Most satisfying win: Cheren coming in to finish off 1% health Registeel in the duo with Tierno, flinched and at 4% health, BUT HE DID IT (thankfully bc i think i actually would have cried if we lost that)
Special Award for the Biggest 'Fuck You' from Tornadus: I think I have to give it to my run where I had him para'd (not guaranteed!), Sinnoh Circle'd and Volkner's sync queued to finish him, and....Volo Metronome'd him past 50%. I HAD TO SET EVERYTHING BACK UP AGAIN

R4 - I actually really like this team. it's extra nice if Archer gets refresh on his TM so you get two rounds of sync accel
R5 - Volo makes me so damn mad like. I tried to use him instead of Swally but he just slows the gauge down SO MUCH...although tbf mine is only 1/5 and I refuse to invest. maybe he's significantly better at higher levels idek

I blasted through the first two stages here so I could get to testing these Premium Variety units, and here are my (obviously very subjective) thoughts on all three (at 1/5 EX):

Arc Steven - 7/10
Pros:

• Literally everything you need in a tank shoved into his base kit. What the hell were they cooking putting Vigi, Sand Shelter and Downside Up in one passive. ridiculous
• Grid has some appealing tiles and I'm sure at 3/5 you won't need another physical support ever again
• Makes Wikstrom hit like a truck
  Cons:
• I'm not thrilled with his bulk at 1/5, will be considering caking him to get a few more defensive stats in
• That QQ-killing rebuff feels so damn pointless when you're not using a steel-type DD.
• He's almost too OP? I'm struggling to work out where best to use him outside of my Memestrom clears. Not really a con persay but I'm kind of whelmed? like i'm enjoying him as much as I expected. he's doing what he's supposed to do. cool.
• He was also the most expensive of these three (21k) so he can lose a point for that.

Arc Cynthia - 4/10
Pros:

• The damage is there.
• She only cost me 15k.
  Cons:
• I have so much beef with this unit. You see that clear? You see how Bertha and Rika were doing all the work? why do I need Rika to set GZ and Bertha to handle sand and trap. why is Cynthia being so damn lazy
• For real though, there's a couple of annoying QoL issues with her that I can't get past, such as:
• the aforementioned inability for GZ to activate unless Cynthia is the one setting the sand
• the fact that you want trap to increase her sync move's power but you have to waste time using freaking sand tomb if she's not 3/5 or you don't bring a trapper
• the whole Extension 3 bs (when her enemy version has 5, just for an extra kick in the guts. she can probably QQ too)
• Dust Kicker locked to 5/5 so you have to manually reset sand from 4/5 downwards
• her allies don't have weather protection until 3/5, which was something NC Silver and Irida came with via their passives

Arc Lance - 9/10
Pros:

• oh my goddd the damage, THE DAMAGE,,,,Hyper Beam and Giga Impact with only 2 bars making them easy to spam is incredibly fun, and sentry/wise entry passives on the enemy are irrelevant!
• unlike SOMEONE, i don't feel the need to bring units to carry him, I bring units to make him better. his set up is braindead easy and he doesn't need help with it.
• officially nukes harder than Ash's B-move. I was so sure they'd continue to be disappointing and not let him creep Ash but I was pleasantly surprised!
• those debuffs. what the fuck. you can run him as a side unit for your fave DD and he'll make them OP, especially if they're a Dragon too
• he only cost me 3k. i knew 20+ years of stanning would pay off. i love you king!
  Cons:
• oh how I wish he had some AOE. but nobody is perfect.
• Soften Up on grid instead of at base, but honestly he hits so fucking hard that it doesn't really matter that much.

tl;dr Cynthia is below my expectations, Lance exceeded them, and Steven met them.
