Does it not work, or does it take many seconds?

With "cancel print" it puts the "stop" message in the queue to the mainboard, and it can have a lot of moves already in the queue.

Looks like I was able to cancel without issue once the print started. The issue seems to be canceling before the print starts, while the bed and hot end are still heating up.
