hey guys, im wondering what's the best way to record ps4 gameplay alongside discord audio from my pc, I can never find a good setting and it's awlays very hit or miss for me whether the recording picks up discord at all. Or if it does the discord audio is very quiet
iv'e tried the team chat setting in sound capture as well as the advanced setting
and then if i use the normal elgato sound capture it now says that instead of what it normally said when I first installed

Hello everyone, Im not actually a streamer but I do have one of these external elgato cards lying around and I have a few questions about them.
The one I currently have is pretty old it is an Elgato HD60, From reading online and watching tutorials, does the video data get sent to your PC via the USB 2.0B cable?

HD and HD60 were USB 2.0 devices. They used a Mini-B cable to send video to the PC or Mac, pretty basic.

My other question is that I know that elgato has their own software for streaming but does it also work with other streaming softwares I dont know any but im just wondering if it is exclusive or not

HD and HD60 can work on OBS Studio, Streamlabs OBS, or Xsplit on Windows.

USB handles audio as well. The 3.5mm Audio port is an input. Sometimes a device doesn't output the right audio over the HDMI connection, so the 3.5mm Audio Input lets users work around that.
It's most commonly used with our Chat Link adapter to let PS4 (and to a less extent Xbox One) users capture all audio that they hear in their headset.

But if you mean the HD60 Pro then that is still windows only even if it plugs in. Bootcamp may work.

Right now our UVC devices are the original Cam Link, Cam Link 4K, HD60 S+. Everything else in our active lineup is Directshow.
HD or HD60 required specific software support which is why you'd have that special 'Elgato Game Capture HD' device listed in OBS.

@honest mortar In terms of support, I'd recommend posting in #cth-history in terms of feedback, I'd recommend #feature-request since you can give ideas on what you think might make it better in the sense of "I mentioned in tech-help A wasnt working. To make this better, perhaps B or C could help." So perhaps having the community be a part of bigger betas or patches as an example of what could help. I do want to mention that I've shared your feedback so far with the team, but since they are located in Germany they are currently asleep.

@zealous mica it will have been edited to look the same as the elgato mount. I highly doubt that the mount has enough strength to hold two monitors with such a small base. Correct me if I'm wrong but the mount is an aluminium telescoping mount arm where any monitor mount would be steel with a decent sidewall diameter

that photo is definitely edited. the contents on the screen don't match the reflection on the table. but the multi mount reflection looks legit. its even reflected on the on the pc's side panel

Plenty of monitor arms use the similar looking clamp from the top of the desk. And Multimount does not support that kind of weight.

I have a generalized question, but has anyone had success with using a Macbook Pro with an El Gato HD60 S to capture footage from a PS4 and/or PS4 Pro? If so, what MacBook are you using? I'm looking at upgrading from a MacBook Air Mid-2012 (obviously won't run it) and found this FAQ about different models of MBP.

For Mac - if you're using Game Capture for Mac you'd want the CPU to be at least 2ghz so either the top 13" MBP model or any 16" MBP model will do.
Also, something to keep in mind is that if you want to use OBS Mac, you probably want the 16" version since in order to use OBS Mac with HD60 S, you need to use Game Capture + OBS Link which uses more resources than OBS alone would use.
If you use an HD60 S+ it is UVC so it will work natively in OBS Mac and you can refer to their system requirements for use @abstract panther

I use the HD60 S with my 2018 15" MBP (mid-level). I do have to use OBS Link for it and have found that it has a 575ms delay, which is fine since I can adjust it in OBS.

That's a big question! The easiest I can explain is marketing is split between the two locations but most of the team is located in Munich.
Hence why the roles have only been Munich based at the moment. If there are any NA based roles, they would be for the Fremont office.

i'm just asking, because i was always interested in the "old" elgato before it was sold to geniatech (bought a lot of tv related stuff). also when smart home stuff came, i invested some money in their product (elgato eve).
and even today i find elgato even more interesting especially as an apple and corsair user and fan.

@hot inlet Not by design. It has one 1/4th-20 thread at the end. Attaching a Flex Arm Kit to it, just moves that end point to a different place.
You'd need another solution to attach two items to it.

Interesting. The way I see it is the HDMI cable from the PS4 connects to the Elgato, then another HDMI runs up to the TV, so it makes since that the image would suffer. I've read that the 4K Elgato doesn't have this issue, though.

Hello people, i have a pretty silly question that i can't really answer. The new elgato 4k 60 s+ does the encoding on the internal chip so i suppose "0%" inpact on performance. So i can play my pc games and record with no impact. Then, what something like the 4k 60 pro does? You set it up to obs and It is recording your desktop saving the files on your ssd or hdd and It still have "0%" impact on your pc performance? Is basicly the same product but you can't record on a sd card? Or it records only something like ps4 or xbox, so not pc source? @dusky venture @flint tartan @civic falcon

@tawny orchid As long as you're using the 4K60 S+ in standalone mode, then there will be 0% performance impact as the PC has no idea it's being recorded.
If you connect the 4K60 S+ is connected to the PC and showing an image from the card, then the PC is taking the H.264 or H.265 stream, decoding it, and then displaying it in the preview. So there is some performance impact from that but much less from doing the encoding.
4K60 Pro and 4K60 S+ aren't really aimed at the same use-case.
4K60 Pro is our only device which now which supports refresh rates over 60Hz. So it will almost always be our recommendation for those looking to do dual PC recording setups.

HDMI 2.0 can do 4K 60hz, 1440p 144hz, or 1080p 240Hz.
If you're using Gsync or Freesync, that's still over DP. But many high refresh monitors come with HDMI 2.0

I need 3 cable, power, hdmi in and out. The hdmi in goes on my gpu, the hdmi on my monitor (???) and i just insert the sd card and press record right?
I'm using 2 monitors both connected to my gpu with displayport (so no sound pass). How is the capture card taking the audio, from the gpu hdmi in or what?
I also have a xlr mic and headphones both connected to my audio interface so on windows the sound from desktop goes to his audio interface, both game and mic.
Or i need to download elgato audio software etc?
Basicly what i'm asking for it how do i connect everything to get my game recorded on the sd card (considering that i have 2 monitors both connected via diplayport (no audio passing) and my audio goes to my audio interface).

Hey guys, has anybody used the camera settings on Discord to stream an Elgato to friends? It only seems to work on capture cards that integrate into your computer through the motherboard.

@naive bane everything on your PC interfaces with the motherboard AKA the mainboard, hence the name. Do you mean an Elgato Camlink or one that connects via USB

I got a multi mount (no extension yet) the other day as well! I got tired of using my tripod and switching back and forth for when I’m taking photos. It’s located behind my PC tower on my desk so it’s a hassle getting it in and out. Hopefully it works well under the DSLR weight, although I’m not too worried!

Ok, then it may be worth getting the CamLink 4K then, but I'd still recommend the StreamDeck first, given how much that revolutionises the streaming workflow, whereas a CamLink would just make for an iterative improvement on video quality
I'm not getting a CamLink myself mind you, I have a separate device I have my eyes on, that may actually benefit you with your multiple cameras 😂

Hey guys! I'm planning to switch from TouchPortal to StreamDeck (got my 1st twitch payment! ) and I'd like to ask a few things about Stream Deck just to make sure it's able to do what I'm looking for:

can I control Spotify even when I'm in fullscreen game?

does the deck have a separate OBS plugin? (so for example what I mean is...can I save replay buffers without setting up a hotkey for it in OBS OR the only way is to set up a hotkey in OBS AND give that hotkey keypress to Stream Deck?

- Spotify, yes, but there's an API throttling with Spotify these days, so it could be rate limited at times.
- there's a third party stream deck plugin for OBS (OBS Tools) that works with a Recording/stop button

- Yes you can change your music, pause, skip, etc from the Streamdeck,
- There is a multi action function as well.
